i have a deep and abiding love for board games. this is probably because we had no television when i was a kid and they were among our only rainy day/late night diversions.
trivial pursuit is my personal jam. genus 5, most specifically. of course the original can't be overlooked.
at the moment, d-da and i are playing concurrently risk and chess. risk has long been a family favorite. my brother and sister and i have stayed up for hours and hours past our respective bedtimes playing risk. chess i have learned how to play at least a dozen times. then i forget again. not this time. i have made a vow to myself to learn to play chess, permanently. after this, i will become great at chess. and then, within a year at most, i will rule the world through chess.
this is a lofty, unattainable goal.
A very quick update

My friend Sarah Beth and I have visions of making millions on the Taboo circuit, in which we will conquer the masses with our mad skills for this beloved buzzer word game. We credit our MLA membership and love of language as our greatest assets.
Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, a bottle of gin, Otis Redding, and a Vietnamese card game phonetically spelled dun loa - my recipe for a good night at home. I think you may have talked to my roommate Justin today. Do you work near the Suntrust building?
Can I suggest coming to Games Day West? It's a group of board gamers who meet at Garibaldi's by the UofM, this Saturday starting about noon. We play mostly the kind of games you'll find at BoardGameGeek. You might not have heard of the titles, but the games require some thought and are a lot of fun!
Anyone is welcome, BTW. You can email me for more information.
I posted a reply to your comment on my blog...but I didn't think, hey she might never know that happened and will think I just didn't care...anyhow, that's where it is.
Now I feel oddly stalkerish.
